कातिक महिनवा मे सूरूज ठंडइलें लागल भोरे बहे शीतली बयरिया निमिया पर बईठल, चिरईया भी गावे एही मासे अइहें रे हमरो मयरिया काल्हे दुपहरिया में कान्हा पर झोरा कपड़ा, मिठाई आ फ़ल थोड़ा थोड़ा लेहले फलनवा कऽ बाबूजी अइले बेटवा मेहरिया के मन हरसइलें खूबे सजल बा हो गउवां नगरिया घाटे उतरिहें रे हमरो मयरिया घटवा सजावऽ हो! पोखरा भरावऽ जा छठी मइया के नेवता पेठावऽ उगिहें आदितमल, मिटी अन्हरिया गद-गद भइल आरे मनवा भितरिया किरपा देखईहें रे हमरो मयरिया नरियल, शरीफा, केरा आ सेउवा सुथनी, हरदिया आ गागल निमउआ भोरवे से जगके अंगना सजावे नवकी दुलहनिया ठेकुआ बनावे बड़ा सुंदर भरल बाटे सुपवा दउरिया देखी जुड़ईली रे हमरो मयरिया घीउआ के बाती के दियना जरा के जल बीच खड़ा होके हथवा जुड़ाके अरघ सकारी हे सूरूज गोसईंया बिट्टू नेवावेलें सिरवा, पगड़िया सरधा पुरइहऽ ए हमरो मयरिया 🌸

कातिक महिनवा मे सूरूज ठंडइलें लागल भोरे बहे शीतली बयरिया निमिया पर बईठल, चिरईया भी गावे एही मासे अइहें रे हमरो मयरिया The sun cools in the month of Karthik, A cold, refreshing breeze begins to blow at dawn. Birds perched on the neem tree sing their joyful songs, For in this very month, our Mother (Chhath Ma) will arrive! *** काल्हे दुपहरिया में कान्हा पर झोरा कपड़ा, मिठाई आ फ़ल थोड़ा थोड़ा लेहले फलनवा कऽ बाबूजी अइले बेटवा मेहरिया के मन हरसइलें खूबे सजल बा हो गउवां नगरिया घाटे उतरिहें रे हमरो मयरिया Just yesterday afternoon, with a bag upon his shoulder, Carrying clothes, sweets, and a modest quantity of fruits, The Babu-ji (Father) of Falanwa (Anonymous) has arrived (from the city), Filling the hearts of the children and wife with happiness. The entire village and town are beautifully decorated, Our Mother (Chhath Ma) will descend upon the river banks (Ghats). *** घटवा सजावऽ हो! पोखरा भरावऽ जा छठी मइया के नेवता पेठावऽ उगिहें आदितमल, मिटी अन्हरिया गद-गद भइल आरे मनवा भितरिया किरपा देखईहें रे हमरो मयरिया “Go, decorate the Ghats! Fill the sacred ponds!” “Go, extend the invitation to Chhathi Ma (The revered Goddess)!” The Sun God (Aaditmal) will rise, and the darkness will be erased. Our innermost hearts are overflowing with pure joy and devotion, Our Mother (Chhath Ma) will surely show Her kindness and grace. *** नरियल, शरीफा, केरा आ सेउवा सुथनी, हरदिया आ गागल निमउआ भोरवे से जगके अंगना सजावे नवकी दुलहनिया ठेकुआ बनावे बड़ा सुंदर भरल बाटे सुपवा दउरिया देखी जुड़ईली रे हमरो मयरिया Coconuts, custard apples, bananas, and apples, Lesser yam (Suthni), turmeric plants, and sweet pomelos (Gagal), Waking before the break of dawn, the courtyard is being decorated. The new bride is lovingly preparing Thekua (a traditional sweet delicacy). See how beautifully the bamboo winnowing baskets (Sup) and large baskets are filled, Our Mother (Chhath Ma) will be content and pleased upon seeing this offering. *** घीउआ के बाती के दियना जरा के जल बीच खड़ा होके हथवा जुड़ाके अरघ सकारी हे सूरूज गोसईंया बिट्टू नेवावेलें सिरवा, पगड़िया सरधा पुरइहऽ ए हमरो मयरिया 🌸 Lighting lamps with wicks dipped in pure Ghee, Standing in the water with hands folded in deep reverence, “O Sun God (Suruj Gosaiyan), please accept this morning offering (Sakaari Aragh).” Bittu (writer's nickname) bows his head in complete surrender and faith, “Fulfill all our aspirations, O our Mother (Chhath Ma)!”
